Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round baking pans.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cake flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter until fluffy, then gradually add the granulated sugar until airy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
- Add the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cooling and Frosting
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for about 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks.
- Once cool, frost with cream cheese icing.
Notes
