Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg along with the vanilla and almond extracts until well combined.
- Gradually stir in the flour and salt until the dough comes together.
- Separate the dough into three equal parts, placing each in its bowl for coloring.
- Add pink food coloring to one bowl and purple food coloring to another; leave the last portion uncolored.
- Fit your cookie press with the Y disc and fill it with the dough, alternating colors if desired.
- Extrude the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, creating various shapes.
- Bake for about 8 minutes, avoiding over-baking to maintain a soft texture.
- Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack and then decorate as desired.
Notes
Chill the dough if it seems too soft to work with. Use high-quality unsalted butter for richer flavor. Consider adding sprinkles or edible glitter for decoration. You can prepare the dough in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze it for longer storage.
