  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg along with the vanilla and almond extracts until well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in the flour and salt until the dough comes together.
  5. Separate the dough into three equal parts, placing each in its bowl for coloring.
  6. Add pink food coloring to one bowl and purple food coloring to another; leave the last portion uncolored.
  7. Fit your cookie press with the Y disc and fill it with the dough, alternating colors if desired.
  8. Extrude the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, creating various shapes.
  9. Bake for about 8 minutes, avoiding over-baking to maintain a soft texture.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack and then decorate as desired.

Notes

Chill the dough if it seems too soft to work with. Use high-quality unsalted butter for richer flavor. Consider adding sprinkles or edible glitter for decoration. You can prepare the dough in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze it for longer storage.
