Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped Thai basil, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
  3. Once hot, add the beef mixture and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Rolling
  1. Prepare a shallow dish with warm water for softening the rice paper sheets. Dip one rice paper sheet into the warm water for about 10-15 seconds until pliable.
  2. Lay the softened rice paper flat. Place a crisp lettuce leaf followed by a spoonful of the beef filling.
  3. Fold the sides inwards and roll tightly from the bottom to top, sealing the roll. Repeat with remaining sheets and filling.
Serving
  1. Arrange beef rolls on a platter and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves. Serve with a side dipping sauce.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are chopped finely and do not overfill the rolls. Keep unused rice papers covered with a damp cloth. Practice rolling for improved techniques.
