  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce Adds a complex, salty flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar Balances the savory elements.
  • 1 pack spring roll wrappers Crispy and light for encasing the filling.

Cooking
  1. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
  2. Add minced garlic to the hot oil and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and Thai basil. Cook until the basil wilts, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Lay out a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of beef mixture inside.
  6. Tightly roll the wrapper around the filling, tucking in the sides and sealing with water.
  7. In a pan, heat oil for frying until shimmering.
  8. Fry the rolls until golden brown on all sides, turning carefully.
  9. Drain the rolls on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Ensure the beef filling cools slightly before wrapping to keep the wrappers crisp. You can prepare the filling ahead of time and assemble just before frying.
