  • 1 box 12 oz box of saltine or Ritz-style crackers Base for absorbing flavors
  • 3/4 cup olive oil Rich, savory flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning Herb blend for flavor
  • 3 tablespoons chili flakes Adds required heat
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder For aromatic kick
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Provides depth and sweetness
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavors
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Rounds off spice blend

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil, Italian seasoning, chili flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Pour the saltine crackers into a large resealable plastic bag or mixing bowl. Drizzle the seasoning mixture over the crackers.
  3. Seal the bag tight and gently shake, or toss in the bowl, until all crackers are evenly coated.
  4. Allow the coated crackers to marinate for at least 4 hours or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Spread the marinated crackers evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.
  4. Allow the crackers to cool completely before serving.

Notes

For an extra kick, consider adding smoked paprika or cayenne pepper. Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain crunch for several days.
