  • 8 slices thick bread (e.g., brioche, challah, sourdough) Day-old bread works best.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk Can use milk alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional, for added flavor.
  • 2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen) Any combination of berries works well.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Tear or slice the bread and toss it into the greased baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  5. Scatter the berries over the top of the bread mixture.
  6. Optionally, add a sprinkle more sugar or a dab of butter on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  2. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burns.
