Biscuit Dough
  • 2 packages store-bought refrigerated biscuit dough Forms the structure of the tree.
  • 1 egg beaten For egg wash.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds Optional, for garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, add the cleaned and chopped spinach over medium heat. Sauté until wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. Add the wilted spinach to the cream cheese mixture and mix thoroughly.
  5. Gently fold in grated Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Open the packages of biscuit dough, separate each biscuit, and flatten them slightly.
  7. Scoop some spinach dip mixture onto the center of each flattened biscuit. Fold the sides over the filling, forming a ball.
Assembling and Baking
  1. Arrange the biscuit balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a Christmas tree shape.
  2. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can prepare the spinach dip mixture a day in advance and store in the fridge. Ensure biscuits are even-sized for consistent baking. Cooking the spinach carefully prevents sogginess.
