Ingredients
  

For the filling
  • 10 oz frozen spinach (thawed and liquid squeezed out) Bright green and nutrient-rich.
  • 6 oz cream cheese (softened) Adds a rich texture.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella Enhances the creaminess.
  • 3/4 cup canned artichoke hearts (drained and chopped) Provides a savory kick.

  • to taste Freshly ground black pepper Adds zing.
  • pinch crushed red pepper flakes Introduces subtle warmth.
For the pastry
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry (from a 17.3-oz. box, thawed) Creates a delightful texture.
  • all-purpose flour for the surface Keeps things from sticking.
For assembly
  • 12 pieces skewers Essential for construction.
  • 6 slices Provolone To crown the trees.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the thawed spinach, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, and chopped artichokes. Season with Kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Lightly flour your working surface and roll each puff pastry sheet into a rectangle about 15 x 12 inches and 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Spread the spinach mixture evenly over one puff pastry sheet, then top with the second sheet and gently press down.
Assembly
  1. Cut the pastry into 12 strips, each about 1 inch thick.
  2. Fold each strip in a zig-zag motion to create a conical tree shape.
  3. Insert a skewer from the bottom to the top of each tree, leaving 1/2 inch exposed.
  4. Place the trees on the prepared baking sheets, ensuring space for even baking.
Baking
  1. Bake the skewers in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. While cooling, stack and cut out small star shapes from the slices of Provolone.
  3. Skewer the stars onto the tops of the trees for decoration.

Notes

Consider adding garlic powder or fresh minced garlic for flavor. Whole wheat pastry sheets or Greek yogurt can be used as healthier swaps.
