Dough and Sauce
  • 1 pound pizza dough Freshly kneaded or store-bought
  • 1 cup tomato sauce Use a rich, flavorful variety
Cheese and Chorizo
  • 1-1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Creamy and melty
  • 10-20 slices chorizo sausage Spicy and packed with flavor
Toppings and Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For brushing the crust
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano Optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Optional
  • a few leaves fresh basil leaves or parsley For garnishing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C) and place a pizza stone in the oven if using.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the rolled dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  6. Arrange the slices of chorizo evenly over the cheese.
  7. Brush the exposed crust with olive oil.
  8. Optional: Sprinkle dried oregano and garlic powder over the toppings.
Baking
  1. If using a pizza stone, slide the pizza onto it and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. If using a baking sheet, bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
  2. The pizza is ready when the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Serving
  1. Allow the pizza to cool slightly, then garnish with fresh herbs.
  2. Slice into 8 pieces and serve immediately.

Notes

For a crusty pizza, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings. Customize with additional toppings as desired.
