Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Stir in the red food coloring to achieve a vibrant red hue.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  2. Make an indentation in each cookie and fill with a small teaspoon of Nutella.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and they are lightly golden.
  4. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
