  • 1 cup powdered sugar Creates the candy base, providing sweetness and smooth texture.
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk Adds creaminess and richness.
  • 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract Infuses the candies with peppermint flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the overall sweetness and flavor profile.
Coating and Dusting
  • 1 cup granulated sugar For coating the outside of the mints.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Prevents sticking during rolling.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
  2. If desired, mix in a few drops of red food coloring to achieve a festive hue.
  3. Dust your hands and work surface with cornstarch. Roll the mixture into small balls, approximately 1-inch in diameter, and flatten slightly to form disks.
  4. Coat each flattened peppermint in granulated sugar.
  5. Arrange the sugared mints on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them firm up at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours.

Notes

Use cold hands to prevent the mixture from becoming sticky. Feel free to experiment with different flavor extracts. Package in decorative jars or bags for gift giving.
