Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your bundt pan or wreath-shaped cake pan by lightly greasing and flouring it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a larger bowl, mix the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until fully blended.
- Gradually pour the dry mixture into your wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Add the white vinegar and stir.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until fluffy, then add vanilla extract and heavy cream to achieve desired consistency.
- Once the cake has cooled, frost the cake generously, creating a wreath shape and decorate with green and red sprinkles.
Notes
For a bakery-quality finish, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. You can mix in whipped cream for a lighter frosting or reduce powdered sugar to taste. Experiment with different sprinkles or edible decorations to match your holiday theme.
