Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, which takes about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the pure vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until the dough comes together.
- Fold in the rainbow sprinkles.
- Divide the dough into four equal portions. Leave one plain and add gel food colors to the others.
- Gently combine all four doughs, swirling them together to create a mesmerizing tie-dye effect.
- Use a cookie scoop to roll each portion into a ball, rolling them in granulated sugar or sprinkles.
- Place the cookie balls onto the baking sheets, leaving space for them to expand.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool before serving.
Notes
Watch out for common mistakes such as overbaking, overmixing the dough, and achieving the perfect color distribution.
