Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the peanut butter, softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until everything is smoothly combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped peanuts if desired.
- Spread the dough evenly in your prepared baking dish.
Baking
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are set.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature butter. A pinch of cinnamon can add warmth. Add sea salt on top for a twist. You can also substitute half of the chocolate chips with peanut butter chips or white chocolate.
