Method
 

Preparation
  1. Melt 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan.
  2. Evenly divide the melted butter into the 12 muffin cups of your muffin tin.
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar over the melted butter and stir in a pinch of cinnamon if desired.
  4. Gently arrange 2 to 3 peach slices in each muffin cup.
Mix Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
Baking
  1. Spoon the batter evenly over the peach slices in each muffin cup, filling them about two-thirds full.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Let the muffins cool in the tin for five minutes before inverting to serve.
