Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Can use other cheeses for variation
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional for added heat
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Can substitute some with Greek yogurt for health
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup minced fresh parsley Can use 2 tablespoons dried parsley

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes if using, and baking powder. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and egg until blended. If using fresh parsley, add it here.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms, adding flour if too sticky.
  5. Form the dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter and place on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and firm to touch.
  2. Allow them to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
  3. Serve warm for the best flavor.

Notes

For varied flavors, experiment with other cheeses, or add herbs like thyme or oregano. Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
