Ingredients
  

For the burgers
  • 1 head small head of cabbage cut into thick slices
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey) choose your preferred meat
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt to enhance flavor
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper for a little kick
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika to infuse smokiness
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce adds umami flavor
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for brushing the cabbage
  • 1 egg optional for binding

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for optimal baking.
  2. Slice the cabbage into 1/2 inch thick rounds and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg (if using). Mix gently.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into patties and press onto the cabbage rounds.
Baking
  1. Place the cabbage burgers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove from oven, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until cheese is golden.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately, garnished with parsley or with sour cream or mustard for dipping.

Notes

For spicier burgers, add red pepper flakes. Let the meat mixture rest for 30 minutes to enhance flavors. Substitute meats or add grated vegetables for nutritional boost.
