Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups heavy cream The base of your ice cream, ensuring it’s rich and creamy.
  • 1 cup whole milk Balances the richness while contributing to a smooth texture.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Sweetens the entire mixture for a delightful treat.
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves Brings a refreshing, aromatic mint flavor.
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Adds a delicious chocolate burst in every scoop.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor with a touch of warmth.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and whole milk. Stir gently until the mixture starts to steam, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove it from the heat, add the fresh mint leaves and cover the pan to steep for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain out the mint leaves using a fine mesh strainer. Return the mixture to low heat, add the sugar and vanilla extract, stirring until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature, then transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours.
  5. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, pour into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency, about 20-25 minutes.
  6. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for about 4 hours until firm.

Notes

Use fresh mint leaves for the best flavor. You can add other mix-ins like crushed Oreo cookies or nuts. Store in a sealed container to prevent ice crystals.
