Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5-2 pounds) Ensure they are evenly sized for uniform cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Optional, for searing the chicken.
  • 1 cup sour cream Adds creaminess to the dish.
  • ½ cup mayonnaise Can use low-fat for a healthier option.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese Optional, for additional cheesy flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or chives For garnish.
  • to taste red pepper flakes For added heat, if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. If your chicken breasts are on the thicker side, slice them horizontally or gently pound them to about 1 inch thick for even cooking. Pat them dry, and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. For extra flavor, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. You can skip this step if short on time.
Mixing the Sauce
  1. In a mixing bowl, blend together the sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese until smooth.
  2. Spread the creamy mixture generously over each chicken breast, and sprinkle additional cheese on top if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  2. For a golden top, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, monitoring to prevent burning.
  3. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after removing from oven, then garnish with fresh herbs and serve.

Notes

Serve alongside creamy mashed potatoes, buttery noodles, or a fresh garden salad. Store leftovers properly to retain moisture.
