For the filling

For the glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar Essential for making a luscious glaze.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and sour cream. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and cinnamon. If desired, add pecans.
  4. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture generously over the first layer of batter.
  6. Spoon the remaining cake batter over the cinnamon layer, spreading gently.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  2. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes, then pour the glaze over the warm cake.

Notes

Storage: Cover in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container for up to three days. It can also be frozen for up to three months. Alternative flavors and variations include adding almond extract or chocolate chips.
