  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
Caramel Layer
  • 1 cup caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tbsp milk
Chocolate Coating
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil optional for extra smoothness

Method

Preparation of Nougat Layer
  1. In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, butter, and evaporated milk over medium heat.
  2. Stir constantly until the mixture bubbles and continue to cook for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract, mini marshmallows, and milk chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 8x8 inch pan and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Preparation of Caramel Layer
  1. Combine the unwrapped caramels and milk in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Pour the caramel over the nougat layer once it has set, spreading it evenly.
  3. Chill again until the caramel sets, about 30 minutes.
Chocolate Coating
  1. Melt the remaining chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
  2. Dip each bar into the melted chocolate, coating completely, and return to a parchment-lined tray.
  3. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off, and let the bars set at room temperature or refrigerate until solidified.
Serving
  1. Once set, cut the layered mixture into 1-inch wide by 3-inch long bars.

Notes

Consider serving with vanilla ice cream or as festive treats during gatherings. These bars can be wrapped individually for gifts.
