Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Patties
  • 1 lb ground chicken breast Use lean ground chicken.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Preferably whole wheat.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper Optional for heat.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binding agent.
For Assembly
  • 2 whole whole wheat hamburger buns For a nutritious base.
  • 1/2 cup low-fat mayonnaise Can be substituted with Greek yogurt.
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 large tomato Sliced.
  • Pickles optional Pickles For added crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form the chicken mixture into two equal-sized patties.
Cooking
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the low-fat mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until smooth.
  3. Lightly toast the whole wheat hamburger buns.
Assembly
  1. Spread the creamy sauce on the bottom half of each bun, and place a chicken patty on top.
  2. Stack on the shredded lettuce, juicy tomato slices, and pickles.
  3. Cap it off with the other bun halves.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store the patties in the fridge for up to 3 days. To freeze, use an airtight container. When ready, reheat in a skillet or microwave.
