Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until it’s light and fluffy.
- Gradually mix in the molasses and vanilla extract until everything is fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and flour.
- Slowly add this spice mixture to your butter mix and combine until just mixed in; be careful not to over-mix!
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on your prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they’re set but still soft in the center.
- Allow them to cool for about 5 minutes before rolling them in extra powdered sugar.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an extra burst of flavor, add finely chopped nuts or a pinch of orange zest. Keep the dough slightly chilled before rolling for easier handling.
