Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature for better texture.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Extra for rolling powdered sugar For dusting the cookie balls.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until it’s light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually mix in the molasses and vanilla extract until everything is fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and flour.
  5. Slowly add this spice mixture to your butter mix and combine until just mixed in; be careful not to over-mix!
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on your prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they’re set but still soft in the center.
  8. Allow them to cool for about 5 minutes before rolling them in extra powdered sugar.
  9. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, add finely chopped nuts or a pinch of orange zest. Keep the dough slightly chilled before rolling for easier handling.
