  • 4 tablespoons plain yogurt Adds richness and moisture.
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee For a glossy, smooth texture.

  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic The star ingredient for that delicious garlic flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Adds a luscious finish to your naan.
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro or parsley For fresh garnish and added flavor.

Method
 

Activate the yeast
  1. Combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water in a small bowl. Stir gently and let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
Prepare the dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yogurt and oil.
  2. Incorporate the activated yeast mixture into the dry ingredients.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Shape the naan
  1. Punch the dough down, divide it into 8 portions, and shape each into a ball. Roll into an oval shape, about 8 inches long.
Cook the naan
  1. Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it.
  2. Cook each naan for about 1 minute on each side until puffed and golden brown.
Add garlic butter
  1. Mix minced garlic with melted butter and brush over the naan while cooking. Garnish with salt and chopped cilantro or parsley.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider adding garlic powder to the dough or dried herbs like oregano or thyme. Use a cast-iron skillet for better heat retention.
