Ingredients
  

For the Macaron Shells
  • 1.75 cups 1 3/4 cups almond flour Finely ground almonds create the perfect texture.

  • 0.25 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar Stabilizes the egg whites.
  • Green food coloring For the festive pop of color.
For the Buttercream Filling
  • 0.5 cup 1/2 cup unsalted butter Key ingredient for creamy filling.
  • 2 cups 2 cups powdered sugar Sweetens the buttercream.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances flavor.
  • Assorted edible decorations For creative decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in a food processor to eliminate lumps.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar, and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually incorporate granulated sugar, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix in a few drops of green food coloring and gently fold in the almond flour mixture until combined.
Piping
  1. Fill a piping bag with the green macaron batter and pipe small circles onto prepared baking sheets.
  2. Allow macarons to rest for 30 to 60 minutes until a skin forms on top.
Baking
  1. Bake macarons for 15 to 18 minutes. Do not open the oven door during baking.
  2. After baking, cool on sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Making Buttercream
  1. Beat softened unsalted butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually sift in powdered sugar while mixing, then add vanilla extract.
  3. Whip until buttercream is fluffy and light.
Assembly
  1. Pipe a generous amount of buttercream onto the flat side of one macaron shell and gently sandwich another shell on top.
  2. Stack macarons to create a Christmas tree shape and decorate with edible decorations.

Notes

Ensure all tools are clean and grease-free for perfect macarons. Use a kitchen scale for precise measurements. Consider adding flavors like peppermint extract or crushed pistachios to the buttercream for variations.
