Ingredients

Ingredients for Edible Pine Cones
  • 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter smooth, rich, and nutty.
  • 1/3 cup Nutella chocolatey bliss that perfectly complements the peanut butter.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened adds creaminess to the mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract for warmth and depth.
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar as well as more for dusting.
  • 8 salted pretzel twists about 2 1/2" long, perfect for the “pine cones.”
  • 1 box of Chocolate Frosted Flakes (13.7 oz) to create the 'scales' of the pine cones.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the creamy peanut butter, Nutella, softened butter, and vanilla extract on medium-high speed until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  2. Gradually add the confectioners' sugar, about 1/4 cup at a time, mixing until a putty-like dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a clean work surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
Molding
  1. Take one pretzel twist and start molding the dough around it, beginning wider at the base and tapering up to create a conical shape.
  2. Arrange each coated pretzel on a parchment-lined baking sheet with the wide end facing down.
  3. Repeat this step with all remaining dough and pretzels.
Decoration
  1. Press in Chocolate Frosted Flakes at a slight angle starting at the bottom of each pine cone, spiraling up until covered.
  2. Dust with confectioners' sugar to mimic freshly fallen snow before serving.

Notes

To enhance flavor, try different nut butters and consider adding edible glitter or colored sprinkles for a festive look.
