Preparation
- Begin by melting the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips together in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in short intervals and stirring until a smooth consistency is achieved.
- Once the chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, add the white sugar and brown sugar. Whisk them together until the sugars blend completely.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture, and mix vigorously until combined and glossy.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture without overmixing.
- Stir in the crushed Oreos.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth it out. Optionally, arrange some whole Oreos on top.
- Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, checking to pull them out when set but gooey in the center.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
For fudgy brownies, consider underbaking slightly. Adding a pinch of espresso powder enhances the chocolate flavor without a coffee taste. Serve with powdered sugar or vanilla ice cream.
