Method
Preparation
- Gather all ingredients on your countertop.
- In a saucepan, pour 2 cups of full-fat milk and set over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup of custard powder with 2 tablespoons of cold milk to make a smooth paste.
Cooking
- Once the milk is warm, add in 1/2 cup of sugar and stir until dissolved.
- Gradually add the custard paste to the warm milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly for about 5-7 minutes or until it thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in a pinch of cardamom powder.
Cooling & Serving
- Transfer custard to a bowl or individual cups and let cool to room temperature.
- Prepare and chop your chosen seasonal fruits.
- Layer the chopped fruits on top of the cooled custard or fold them in for a marbled effect.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts on top before serving.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
For richer flavor, infuse the milk with vanilla. You can use a variety of seasonal fruits to enhance flavors. For a vegan version, substitute milk with oat or almond milk.
