Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare an 8x8-inch square baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or giving it a light greasing.
- In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, ground cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, maple syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, gently stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples and any optional ingredients like walnuts, raisins, or chocolate chips.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan, spreading it into an even layer.
Baking
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice into 9 bars.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze individual portions wrapped tightly.
