Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until evenly mixed.
- Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Use a mixer to beat the mixture on medium speed until smooth and well combined.
- Gradually pour in the boiling water to the batter, mixing until you have a homogeneous and thin batter.
- Evenly divide the batter between the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake the cakes in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow them to cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer the cakes to wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting and Ganache
- For the frosting, beat the creamy peanut butter and heavy cream until you achieve a smooth and spreadable consistency.
- Spread a generous amount of the peanut butter frosting between the two cooled layers.
- To prepare the ganache, heat the heavy cream until it's just simmering, then pour it over the dark chocolate chips. Allow it to sit for a minute before stirring until smooth.
- Let the ganache cool slightly before pouring it over the assembled cake.
- Finish with a sprinkle of crushed peanuts on top.
Serving
- Slice and serve the cake to your family and guests.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in a teaspoon of instant coffee granules with the boiling water for enhanced chocolate flavor. Try adding mini chocolate chips into the batter or a layer of crispy rice cereal mixed with chocolate ganache on top for added crunch.
