Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Warm 1 cup of milk until lukewarm, then sprinkle the yeast over it and allow to sit until foamy (5-10 mins).
- In a large bowl, combine cocoa powder, yeast mixture, softened butter, brown sugar, salt, eggs, and flour. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
- Lightly flour a clean surface, turn out the dough, and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
Rolling and Shaping
- Once risen, turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll into a rectangle (12x18 inches, ¼-inch thick).
- Spread an even layer of a mixture made from butter, sugar, and cinnamon over the rolled dough.
- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough into a tight log and cut into 1-2 inch slices.
- Place rolls into a greased baking dish, close together, and cover to rise until puffy (30-45 mins).
Baking
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until slightly underbaked in the center.
- Remove from oven and drizzle warm heavy cream over the rolls.
Serving
- Serve warm, optionally with toppings like chocolate chips or whipped cream.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using chocolate chips in the filling or nuts for texture. Dough can be prepared the night before and refrigerated.
