Preparation
- If you choose to enhance the flavors, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Sear each side of the corned beef brisket for about 4 to 5 minutes until a golden brown crust forms.
- Gently transfer the beautifully seared brisket into your crockpot.
- Sprinkle the spice packet evenly over the top of the beef.
- Nestle the carrots and potatoes around the brisket.
- Carefully pour the beef broth over everything, immersing the ingredients.
Cooking
- Cover your crockpot and set it to low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 4 to 6 hours.
- About an hour before you plan to serve, lay the cabbage wedges on top.
Serving
- Once cooking is complete, remove the corned beef from the pot and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Serve the dish hot, accompanied by the vegetables and optional garnishes.
Notes
To prepare a lighter version, opt for low-sugar broth, use a leaner cut of beef, and consider dairy-free options for garnishes.
