  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying) Necessary for frying.
Dipping Sauce
  • sweet and sour sauce Classic accompaniment.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a creamy filling.
  2. Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface, covering unused wrappers with a damp cloth to prevent drying.
  3. Place about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper, being careful not to overfill.
  4. Dip a finger in water and moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper.
  5. Fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle shape and seal the edges tightly.
Cooking
  1. In a deep pot or frying pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully add the filled wontons to the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove fried wontons and drain them on paper towels.
  4. Repeat the frying process with remaining wrappers and filling.
  5. Serve warm with sweet and sour sauce for dipping.

Notes

Use fresh crab meat for the best flavor. Consider adding red pepper flakes for a spicy kick. For a healthier version, bake instead of fry.
