  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken Juicy and tender.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or a blend.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Brings tanginess.
  • 1/2 cup salsa Adds moisture and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Lends depth to flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavors.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Provides sweetness.
Taquito Assembly
  • 10 small flour or corn tortillas Perfect vessels for the filling.
  • Cooking spray or oil for brushing For golden crispness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cheese, sour cream, salsa, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each tortilla and roll it up tightly, placing seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Continue until all tortillas and filling are used.
  5. Lightly spray or brush the taquitos with cooking spray or oil.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or air fry for about 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through if using an air fryer.
  2. Serve hot with additional salsa or your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

For added freshness, consider mixing in chopped cilantro or green onions into the filling. Warm tortillas in a skillet for easier rolling. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to three months if wrapped tightly.
