Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent.
  2. Transfer the sautéed onion and garlic to the crock pot. Add in the fresh broccoli florets, broth, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours until the broccoli is tender.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and milk until smooth. Add this mixture to the crock pot and stir well.
  3. Cover and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes.
  4. Finally, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and heavy cream until melted.
  5. Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
