Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and place a baking sheet inside.
- In a shallow dish, mix together 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
- In another dish, whisk together 2 large eggs and 1/4 cup of milk until combined.
- Take each beef chop and dredge it in the seasoned flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, and coat again with the flour mixture.
Cooking
- Heat 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Carefully add the coated beef chops and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer them to the baking sheet in the oven to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, lower the heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter.
- Sprinkle in 1/4 cup of flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in 2 cups of beef broth, bring to a simmer, and add 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme and 1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Let it thicken for about 5 minutes.
Serving
- Spoon the rich gravy generously over the fried beef chops and enjoy.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating beef chops in buttermilk for a few hours. You can also experiment with an air fryer for a healthier option, and feel free to double the gravy recipe if you love gravy.
