Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Softened butter Must be softened; hard butter will not work.
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar Brown sugar adds chewy texture.
  • 2 large Eggs Add eggs one at a time.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract Do not skip.
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Regular flour; not bread flour.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips Use as many as desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cream the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  3. Mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Chill and Bake
  1. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Scoop the dough onto lined baking sheets.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  5. Let the cookies sit for at least 5 minutes to set.

Notes

Cookies can be frozen before baking for later use. Remember to cool them completely before storing in an air-tight container. For chewy cookies, use more brown sugar and do not overbake.
