Fritter Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chopped Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples Choose tart apples for best flavor
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For the glaze
  • 2 tbsp milk For the glaze
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon For the glaze

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the whole milk and egg until smoothly blended. Gradually add to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  3. Gently fold in the chopped apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Cooking
  1. In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure correct frying temperature.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
Glazing
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, extra milk, and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the warm glaze generously over the fritters before serving. Enjoy while still warm.

Notes

For a thicker glaze, adjust the ratio of powdered sugar to milk. Store leftover fritters in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
