  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Topping
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for topping
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for topping
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack.
  8. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  9. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. You can freeze slices in zip-top bags for later use. Reheat by microwaving for a few seconds or toasting lightly.
