Ingredients
  

For the Crust
  • 36 pieces Oreo cookies Crushed into fine crumbs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Melted
For the Cream Cheese Layer
  • 2 packages cream cheese 8 oz each, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
For the Chocolate Layer
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
For Garnish
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • Additional whipped topping for garnish
  • Optional chocolate shavings for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Crust
  1. Crush the 36 Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or a rolling pin in a zip-top bag.
  2. Mix the crumbs with the melted butter until well combined.
  3. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Make the Cream Cheese Layer
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gently fold in one cup of whipped topping until combined.
  3. Spread this creamy layer evenly over the cookie crust.
Prepare the Chocolate Pudding
  1. In another bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until it thickens, about 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the peppermint extract.
  3. Pour the pudding over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly.
Layer the Whipped Topping
  1. Fold in the crushed peppermint candies into the remaining whipped topping.
  2. Spread this mixture over the pudding layer.
Chill and Garnish
  1. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Before serving, add additional whipped topping for garnish and sprinkle chocolate shavings and crushed peppermint candies on top.
