- Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then mash them in a bowl with the avocado until desired consistency.
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste, mixing well.
- If using, stir in chopped red onion and hot sauce.
- Scoop the chickpea mixture onto your bread of choice and serve.
Notes
This recipe can be made ahead of time. To store, squirt extra lemon on top to prevent browning and keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
