  • 4 large chicken breasts (boneless skinless) Lean protein source.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For searing the chicken.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • Salt & pepper (to taste) To season the chicken.
  • 1.5 cups marinara sauce Adds moisture and flavor.
  • 0.5 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese For added texture and flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Melts beautifully on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and move the rack to the middle position.
  2. Season both sides of each piece of chicken with garlic powder and salt & pepper.
  3. Add the olive oil to a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for about 5 minutes on each side until golden.
  4. Transfer the seared chicken to a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle freshly grated parmesan cheese over the chicken, followed by shredded mozzarella cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake the dish, uncovered, for 20 minutes. If using smaller chicken breasts, reduce the time to about 15 minutes.
  2. Broil the chicken for a few minutes until the mozzarella is lightly browned and bubbling.
  3. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For healthier alternatives, consider low-sugar marinara sauce or dairy-free mozzarella. This dish pairs well with a fresh salad or roasted vegetables.
