Cake Base
  • 1 9-inch Chocolate Cake A rich, moist chocolate cake.
Fruit Layer
  • 2 cups Pitted Cherries Fresh or canned, rinsed and pitted.
Whipped Cream Layer
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream Whipped to fluffy perfection.
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar To sweeten the whipped cream.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Adds depth of flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder For rich chocolate flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Dark Chocolate Shavings For garnish.

Method
 

Baking the Cake
  1. Bake the chocolate cake according to package instructions and let it cool completely before cutting into cubes.
Preparing the Cherries
  1. Rinse and pit fresh cherries or drain jarred cherries to use in the trifle.
Making the Whipped Cream
  1. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla while continuing to whip until fluffy.
Assembling the Trifle
  1. Layer the trifle by starting with chocolate cake cubes, followed by cherries and then whipped cream. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
Decorating
  1. Sprinkle cocoa powder or dark chocolate shavings on top for decoration before serving.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for richer flavor. Optional: Add crushed nuts or mini chocolate chips for texture. Serve with hot beverages or vanilla ice cream for enhanced enjoyment.
