Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk and simmer until the gravy thickens, about 5–7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cut biscuit dough into quarters.
  7. Layer half the biscuit pieces in the baking dish.
  8. Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuit layer.
  9. Top with remaining biscuit pieces, pressing them slightly into the gravy.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until biscuits are golden and the casserole is bubbly.
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  12. Garnish with parsley or chives, if desired.

Notes

To enjoy healthier alternatives, consider using turkey or chicken sausage, whole wheat biscuits, or unsweetened almond milk.
