Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mash the ripe bananas until creamy, leaving a few small lumps.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs, and the mashed bananas until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together until evenly blended.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.
  6. If desired, fold in the nuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Grease a loaf pan and pour the batter into it, spreading it out evenly.
Baking
  1. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for maximum sweetness. Don't overmix to keep the bread light and fluffy. Experiment with flavors by adding vanilla extract or lemon zest.
