Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados Soft, not too mushy
  • 2 slices of bread Sourdough, multigrain, or plain white works well
  • 1 fresh tomato Cherry or Roma are recommended
  • 4 leaves basil leaves Fresh basil
  • 1 squirt lemon juice For flavor
  • to taste salt For seasoning
  • to taste black pepper For seasoning
  • to taste red pepper flakes Optional, for spiciness

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Toast your bread until crisp.
  2. Slice the avocado, remove the pit, and mash it in a bowl with a fork.
  3. Add a pinch of salt and lemon juice to the mashed avocado.
  4. Slice the tomatoes thinly.
  5. Stack and slice the basil leaves into ribbons.
Assembly
  1. Spread the mashed avocado onto the toasted bread.
  2. Layer the sliced tomatoes on top of the avocado.
  3. Sprinkle with basil, salt, pepper, and chili flakes if using.
  4. Serve immediately.

Notes

Best eaten fresh. Could be topped with a fried egg or enjoyed with fresh fruit. Experiment with different ingredients based on your preference.
