- Drain the mandarin oranges, pineapple tidbits, and maraschino cherries thoroughly to prevent excess liquid.
- In a large bowl, combine the sour cream and whipped topping. Stir until smooth.
- Gently fold in the mini marshmallows, mandarin orange segments, pineapple tidbits, shredded coconut, and maraschino cherries.
- If using nuts, gently fold in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
- Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Before serving, give the salad a gentle stir and scoop into bowls or serve from the big bowl.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use full-fat sour cream and whipped topping. You can also use fresh fruits for a tastier version. Toasting nuts enhances their flavor.
