Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup sour cream Creamy and tangy, it forms the base of the salad.
  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip) Adds lightness and airiness to each bite.
Fruits
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows Offers a delightful sweetness.
  • 1 cup mandarin orange segments, drained Juicy, vibrant, and effortlessly sweet.
  • 1 cup pineapple tidbits, drained Offers a tempting tropical flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut Gives a chewy texture and extra sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and halved Adds visual appeal and sweetness.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Adds a crunch; optional but recommended.

Preparation
  1. Drain the mandarin oranges, pineapple tidbits, and maraschino cherries thoroughly to prevent excess liquid.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sour cream and whipped topping. Stir until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the mini marshmallows, mandarin orange segments, pineapple tidbits, shredded coconut, and maraschino cherries.
  4. If using nuts, gently fold in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  6. Before serving, give the salad a gentle stir and scoop into bowls or serve from the big bowl.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use full-fat sour cream and whipped topping. You can also use fresh fruits for a tastier version. Toasting nuts enhances their flavor.
