Preparation
- Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- Gather and measure all ingredients: dark chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and optional flavorings.
Cooking
- In a saucepan, simmer water and place a heat-proof bowl on top. Add chocolate and butter, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Reduce heat to low and whisk in the sweetened condensed milk until mixture thickens and becomes glossy.
- If using add-ins, mix them in now.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly and let it cool for 15 minutes.
- Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to set.
Serving
- Once firm, lift the fudge out using the parchment overhang and cut into squares.
- Serve at room temperature or chilled.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality chocolate and control the heat during melting. Experiment with different flavor variations!
