- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.
- Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
- Add the buttermilk and mix just until combined.
- Spoon the dough into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder while warm.
- If desired, sprinkle chopped parsley over the top.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a lower-calorie loaf, substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour and use low-fat cheese.
