A comforting and indulgent lasagna layered with ground beef, Italian sausage, and rich cheeses.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain the excess fat.
- Stir in the minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until the onion is translucent.
- Pour in the marinara sauce and tomato sauce, then add Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Boil the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, and half of the Parmesan cheese until well-mixed.
- Spoon a thin layer of the meat sauce into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 4 lasagna noodles on top, followed by one-third of the ricotta mixture, a layer of meat sauce, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat layers two more times and finish with remaining noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbling.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Letting the lasagna rest ensures cleaner slices. Feel free to add sautéed vegetables for extra flavor.
